Getting Started With SealReply in 5 Minutes

A short tour for new accounts: install the chat, answer your first visitor, and set up the four things that stop chats from slipping through.

This is a short tour for anyone who has just created a SealReply account. In five minutes you'll have the chat on your site, know where to answer visitors, and have set up the few things that stop chats from slipping through.

Minute 1–2: Put the chat on your site

Right after sign-up, the console opens Set up your chat. It has four steps: Your website, Install, Test chat and Done.

  1. Enter your site's name and address.
  2. Choose your platform (HTML, WordPress or Shopify), copy the code, and paste it just before </body>.
  3. Verify your domain with a DNS record or a small file.
  4. Click Open my website and send yourself a test message.

Detailed steps for each platform: any website, WordPress, Shopify.

If you skip the setup, you can come back to it any time from Sites.

Minute 3: Learn the inbox

Everything visitors write lands in Conversations, in three tabs:

  • Waiting — visitors who wrote and haven't had a reply yet. Start here.
  • Active — conversations someone on your team is handling.
  • Closed — finished conversations, searchable and filterable by site, agent, rating and tag.

Open a conversation and the panel on the right shows who you're talking to: where they came from, the page they're on now, their local time, device, and earlier conversations. If your site has its own sign-in and you've turned on Identity, a signed-in customer shows as Verified.

Minute 4: Save your first quick replies

You'll type the same answers again and again: delivery times, returns, opening hours. Save them once.

  1. Open Quick replies and click Add.
  2. Give it a shortcut, such as shipping, and write the answer.
  3. In any chat, type /shipping to insert it.

Team quick replies are shared by everyone; Mine are only for you. Owners and admins manage the team ones.

Minute 5: Make sure nothing slips through

Four settings matter more than the rest when your team is small:

  1. Push notifications. Open your account menu and turn on Push notifications on this device, on your phone too. On iPhone and iPad, add SealReply to your Home Screen first.
  2. Business hours. Under Sites → your site → Hours & waiting, set when you answer. Outside those hours, visitors leave a message and see when you're back.
  3. Wait-time reminder. In the same section. If nobody answers a visitor's first message in time, the widget offers to email them the reply.
  4. Offline messages. Messages left while you were away arrive here. Reply, and the answer goes to the visitor by email.

After the first five minutes

When you have a little more time, these are worth a look:

  • Look and Texts. Your logo, colour, greeting and offline note, per language, with a live preview.
  • Page rules. A greeting that fits the page (for example on product pages), and pages where the chat stays away.
  • Leads. In a conversation, set a status, an owner and a Next follow-up time. You're reminded when it's due, and told when that customer is back on your site.
  • Team. Click Invite to add teammates. Plans are priced per plan, not per seat.
  • Message translation. On Pro and Business, turn on DeepL translation to read visitors' messages in your language and send replies in theirs.
  • Reports. Conversations, response times, ratings and leads by status.

Every Monday you also get a short weekly summary by email: how many chats came in, how many left contact details, and who still needs a follow-up. It never includes what visitors wrote.
