How do I add live chat to a WordPress site?
Copy the snippet from your dashboard and paste it into your theme's footer (before </body> in footer.php), or into the footer area of any header-and-footer code plugin. Save, reload your site, and the chat button appears in the corner.
Can I add live chat to a Shopify store?
Yes. In Shopify admin open Online Store → Themes → Edit code, paste the snippet before </body> in theme.liquid and save. Any other site builder that accepts custom HTML works the same way.
Can I change how the chat widget looks, what it says and what it does?
Yes, all point and click in the dashboard, no code. Look: brand colour, logo, button position, size, shape and icon, dark mode and reply sound. Words: greetings, the offline message and an after-hours note per language, plus greetings per page or chat group. Features: switch images, files, voice, emoji, ratings, read receipts and pre-chat questions on or off one by one. Pro and above can also remove the SealReply branding.
How do agents know a new message has arrived?
The dashboard plays a sound and shows a desktop notification, and each can be turned off separately. For visitors, the chat button shows an unread count and the browser tab title flashes.
Can I use canned responses?
Yes. Type “/” in the message box to pick a canned response, or browse them by group in the side panel and send one in a click. There are personal and team ones, so common answers never need retyping.
Can agents see which page a visitor is on?
Yes. The visitor panel shows the website, the referring page, the page they're on now, their country, browser and operating system, and their past conversations.
Does the chat survive a page reload or a dropped connection?
Yes. Reloading or moving to another page in the same browser keeps the current conversation, and after a dropped connection the widget reconnects and fills in any messages it missed.
Can live chat connect to our own systems or CRM?
Yes. Starter and above include an open API for reading conversations, messages and visitors, and webhooks push new chats and messages to your systems in real time, signed so you can verify them.
